I just got back from an amazing conference in beautiful Vancouver that drew in more than 8,500 people across the globe. Not only was this what I manifested for my life, but the package that it came in blew my mind.
When I looked at the lineup of speakers, although it constituted many people of color, I was the only one who was visibly of African descent. Secondly, the person who selected my proposal lives in Ireland. When I met her for dinner with her group of speakers, I realized that I was the only one who was an "outsider". Every speaker came from her network and lived in Ireland or grew up there, except for me. We simply pitched for the opportunity.
This was also super special because my 41% European heritage derives from Ireland and the United Kingdom. And somehow although we just met, these strangers felt like home.
There were many more discoveries I took in because well, God/Universe/Source/Creator is always speaking to us, but today I want to impart an exchange I had with one of the Irish women.
Upon introducing ourselves, I said, 'pleasure to meet you', as is the norm for me, and her response killed me in the absolute best ways.
"Yes, I think it is a pleasure to meet me."
To keep it real with you, my first thought was this woman is pompous, but the more I pondered her words, I realized this is how all of us should feel about ourselves. She was simply being honest and it was beautifully refreshing.
The truth is we all have an opportunity to love ourselves so fully, that we know without question it's a pleasure to be in our company.
"Sometimes, I feel discriminated against, but it does not make me angry. It merely astonishes me. How can any deny themselves the pleasure of my company?"
